This essay looks at Worldbuilding in Fantasy film. What techniques are used and how it enhances the story told in a film. The first chapter breaks it down into three core aspects Geography, History and Magic (includes technologies). How they affect worldbuilding and how these aspects can be incorporated into film. Second chapter is about how Lord of the Rings by Peter Jackson used these aspects along with other techniques to develop the world of Middle Earth and how he did a good job at bring Middle Earth to life. Chapter three goes into how Bright by David Ayer attempted world building bringing something that looked fresh and interesting to the screen however it sadly failed to come to fruition and what techniques they used that seemly didn’t pay off in the final edit. My view on it is that Worldbuilding in film is of vital importance and enhances many aspects of the film. I believe that logical and realistic world development is the best way with a consequence driven system aka. If this exists, then what is its effect on the world.
