#Are You Following Me? An analysis of UI design and user behaviour in social media
This dissertation analyses and assesses the interfaces of the social media sites, Facebook and Twitter. It is believed that the design and branding of these interfaces directly influences user behaviour on each site. This investigation involves analysing an individual user who occupies an account on both sites, as well as individual users who have an account on just one site. The motives and branding as well as the overall design of these sites is considered, evaluated and used as the basis for my argument where appropriate. This dissertation establishes that the design of the environments of these sites directly influences users to act specific ways on each site. It demonstrates that users’ personalities further fragment within different user group sections on these sites, showing that the users’ online personalities are a construction of the environment which they inhabit.
